Book Club – Get Creative with Type by Brian Tippets

I thought I would cover a Scrapbook Technique book this week and one of my favourites: Get Creative with Type by the then editor of Creative Keepsakes Brian Tippets.

Everything you ever wanted to do with Type (with a CD)

The book starts with the basic of type-olgy (serif, sans-serif etc) and includes many of the Creating Keepsakes Regulars talking about their favourite fonts.

It then moves on how to make the most out of your fonts using design, combination and colour.

Although most of the suggestions make the most of digital scrapping techniques – it is more geared to the hybrid scrapper as all you need is a computer, an endless supply of fonts (many of them free) and a printer.

Strengths

  • Covers the basics of using fonts and typefaces
  • Has a lot of good examples for using fonts – not just on Layouts but cards and gifts as well.
  • A CD with a series of limited edition fonts.

Overall – 7/10. This is a specialist Scrapbook Title and is not geared at beginners but at scrappers who want to develop specific skills

Brian is now on the team of Scrap-N-Font.

Thanks for Reading
