Challenge Blog – Less Is More’s Masked Ball

After last week’s Less Is More One Layer Challenge, I decided I would venture into the “Bat Cave” (aka the back bedroom, where I keep all my papercraft bits that I don’t use regularly) as I knew somewhere in the depths of the drawers I had some Eclipse Paper. Made by Judikins, it is a smooth matt roll of paper which can be cut, ripped, punched, stamped and used to create masks from it and I decided that I would get mine out and start to play with it…

Not knowing that this week – Less Is More would be challenging us to take our Masking to another level… So in to the Bat Cave I went…. Thankfully it was in the first place I looked, but I also found loads of other goodies I had “Lost” so the visit

My Card is inspired by the song “Africa” by Toto which was playing on the Radio this morning. I love this song, its one of my all time favourites

A Masked African Card

There is three sets of Masking is used – I masked the group in three lines starting from the bottom and working up. I think stamped the Elephant before covering both of them with Eclipse Paper and cut a circle out of another piece of Eclipse paper and inked into the centre to create the setting sun.

I left the edges of the sun intentionally blurred and “bled” the sun in to the horizon to give the slight impression on mirages you get at sunset… Not entirely sure its worked!!

Stash Used

  • Card – Papermania
  • Stamp – Stampin Up
  • Ink – VersaMagic
  • Masking Tape – Eclipse

Thanks for looking, this is my 48th Creative Project in 2012
