Sunday Book Club – Making Cupcakes with Lola

There are two Book-Loving-Cupcake-Cooking Facts of Life:

  1. You can never have too many cupcake cookbooks
  2. If you want a really good one – go for one which is written by someone who cooks for a living, preferably cupcakes!!!

Romy Lewis and Victoria Jossel do just that and therefore you know you are going to get a classic cupcake cookbook:

The new kid on the Cupcake Cookbook Block

Sold through Harrods, Selfridges and their own store in Mayfair, Lola Bakery creates some of the most amazing cupcakes in the UK… They take the basic recipes and give them a WOW factor (Hot Mint Chocolate Cupcake anyone?), even more so if you select the exclusive Pink Lable Cupcakes!

With their first book they have brought some of their most popular recipes to the home market. This hardback book is packed with beautiful photography and simple recipes (as well as a ribbon bookmark – always useful!)

The book starts with some of their lighter recipes (Ginger Lemon, Mango Berry Swirl). Before moving on to of their more OTT recipes (Elvis – Banana and Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate Truffle and Chocolate marshmallows). If you fancy matching your cake to your drink you can try Cappuccino Wafer or Boozy Fun Cupcake, Finally they finish with the signature cupcakes – an easy to do Red Velvet Recipe (always my benchmark recipe), Rocky Road or Peanut Butter.

All the recipes follow simple steps and have both UK and Cup measurements making it easy to use. This is a great addition to any bakers library
