Smash Saturday – March Madness

Welcome to the first of my 2012 Smash Book Prompts. I have been asked if I was doing a series of Smash Saturday again this year and have decided to go for a monthly theme this time…

If you missed my first series of Smash Saturday last year – you can find all the details you need HERE as well as links to both this year and last years prompts…

On the 2nd Saturday of each month, I will publish a prompt with ideas to capture the month we are in.

And then on the first of the next month, I will be sharing my finished Smash Book Page!

So let’s get started…Here are some interesting facts to prompt your creativity about March

We say that it “Comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb…” which refers to the weather. Spring starts in March and the clocks “Spring Forward” on the last Sunday morning in the month…

It is named after Mars the Roman God of War, because in Roman times it represented the start of Spring and therefore the start of the military campaign time.

The flower of the month in the UK is the Daffodil (in the USA it is the Jonquil) and the Birthday stone is Aquamarine or Bloodstone, both representing courage. The Colour of the month is Yellow…

Some Events in March

  • St David’s Day – 01 March
  • St Patrick’s Day – 17 March
  • International Womans Day – 08 March
  • Beware the Ides of March on the 15 March
  • Dr Seuss celebrated his birthday on 02 March
  • Albert Einstein celebrated his birthday on 14 March
  • World Water Day on 22 March

I look forward to seeing what you come up – Thanks for Reading
