As promised, this is the second half of a celebration of baking on both sides of the Atlantic, this week I am looking European Baking with the newly published Big Book of Baking by the Hairy Bikers.
Now, it could be that I am slightly biased when it comes to the Hairy Bikers, I look forward the release of one of their books in the same way that most cooks look forward to a Jamie Oliver or Delia Smith.
But I had even more reason to look forward to this one… it’s a Baking Book and one celebrating a selection of baking that sadly I don’t experiment enough with… European.
Released as a tie-in to their new series Bakeation (which started last Tuesday at 8pm on BBC2 and BBC HD), the lads are going back to their roots and travelling around Europe exploring local food customs and histories. This time they are concentrating on Baked Goods – Breads, Cakes and Biscuits.
Like many of their Tie-Ins this book doesn’t just celebrate the recipes you see on Screen but also much of the back ground information to their trips making it a joy to read and savour. The book also has easy to follow recipes as you would expect from two gents who love food but don’t have formal training.
If you want to experiment with European Baking – this is a fantastic place to start.
Thanks for Reading
