Book Club – Knitted Meerkats by Sue Stratford

This book as only been out a month and if ever I judged a book by its cover… it was this one 🙂 🙂

I love Meerkats and the chance to knit one or more than one is too much of a tempation – Knitted Meerkats by Sue Stratford.

Each adult meerkat stands at around 14cm/4.5 inches tall and although the patterns call for an expensive fine wool (about £7 per ball), I know people have got great results using 2-ply, you don’t get the fuzziness though, so I would recommend you try both 🙂 They are very detailed so I would try Jean Greenhowe first if you have never knitted toys. But if you are a confident knitter you will find the patterns well written and easy to follow.

The patterns have Chanille Sticks in the arms (Like big furry Pipe Cleaners, you can find them in the children’s craft isle in HobbyCraft etc) and a weight in the base (a coin or peice of card) but this is normal for knitted “toys” but this, the glass eyes and the detail make them unsuitable for gifts to young children.

If you want a sneak peak you can get one here on YouTube. This book deserves to be a big hit!

Thanks for Reading
