I had my first go at bread at the weekend since school, A sixth sense told me that it was going wrong from the start… it just didn’t seem to prove properly…
It was also a little too wet in the first stages too. But I persevered…
The second proving went a little better and I ended up with something that at least looked like a loaf!
The actual baking went OK – I followed Paul’s recipe and put a little water in the bottom to create steam. This gave it a nice crust – even if the bread turned back to dough when pressed.
This week on the fantastic GBBO they were doing enriched doughs and the problems of under proving and soggy doughs gave me lots of hints and tips… So I will try again next weekend
